Over the course of my career in publishing, I’ve worked with nonfiction books and cookbooks—but the bulk of my career has been in children’s books. My special areas of expertise include picture books and multicultural/bilingual books. Books I’ve worked on have garnered starred reviews in publications such as Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and Booklist, and have been honored with the International Latino Book Award, the Pura Belpré Honor Award (given by the American Library Association), the Jane Addams Award, and many others.

If you have a children’s book idea that you’d like to develop, a manuscript that you’re ready to send to agents or publishers, or a project that you want to self-publish but don’t know how, get in touch. Also, if you’re an aspiring children’s book illustrator desiring a portfolio review or advice on how to break into the business, I can help.

“[Dana's] feedback covered many angles and was much more detailed than what I had received from critiques from other editors… her delivery exceeded my expectations. She’s a wonderful asset to my work as a writer.” —Nadya Sustache, writer

“Thank you so much for coming to our graduate-level Directed Studies Class in Children’s Books last night. You were incredible and gave the students lots to think about in terms of work and portfolios.” —Julie Downing, illustrator and instructor at Academy of Art University
